Studying entire ecosystems is expensive, labour intensive and often requires study over long timescales. Sarracenia purpurea (Purple Pitcher Plant) provides a useful model in which to study the community dynamics of micro-ecosystems on a condensed time-scale.
I am a PhD student at Loughborough University working on carnivorous plants. I am also a member of the BSBI Events and Communications committee and have helped organise the Exhibition Meeting. On the day I am chairing a session and will be working behind the scenes.
