Join Sandy Knapp (BSBI trustee, Merit Researcher at the Natural History Museum, London and President of the Linnean Society) for this year’s panel discussion. The subject is, How do we build a diverse community of botanists?

Sandy’s guests this year are:

Mark Hutchinson (Vice-Chair, Sheffield Environmental Movement) who will discuss barriers to including marginalised groups in environmental activities;

Falgunee Sarker, BSBI member with experience of bringing botany to the visually-impaired;

Maria Long, BSBI’s Ireland Officer from 2012 to 2019, now a grassland ecologist with the National Parks & Wildlife Service in Ireland; Maria will tell us about her outreach work with farmers and members of the public;

Billy Fullwood, 18-year old BSBI member, will offer his thoughts on how BSBI can engage the next generation of botanists.

It promises to be a fascinating discussion! If you have a question in mind for the panel, you can email us here: meetings@bsbi.org and we’ll pass it on.
